30-Day Challenge
With all of the craziness going on in the world, it can be really tough to feel healthy. We are worried about our loved ones, worried about ourselves, and worried about our world. But hopefully, this 30 day mental health challenge will help.
Addressing your mental health is more than writing in a gratitude journal and making sure to get enough sleep. While those are extremely beneficial and healthy habits, getting through the difficult times may require you to take on a few self-care daily challenges. These small steps won’t take up the whole day, but they are a great way to bring you back to the good things in your life, and each day will build on the next.
Mental health issues aren’t on 100% or off 100%. They wax and wane such that some days you may have lots of sad or anxious thoughts and others those feelings are more of a presence in the back of your mind.
One of the best ways to take care of yourself is to take a small step out of your comfort zone and do things you may not think of. Whether you are listening to a favorite song, playing board games, taking a long walk, or doing a good deed, taking steps to address your own mental health is not only empowering, but it helps your body and brain develop some sense memory in terms of positive reactions.
While many of us try to escape the world by logging into our social media accounts and increasing our screen time, taking on some self-care challenges will inevitably be a better tool for any mental health challenges you may be dealing with.
30 Day Wellness Challenge
This printable list of 30 activities is meant to help you do something that will calm your nerves and brighten your day, if only for a few minutes. The activities will help you live in the present moment and will hopefully inspire positive change in your day.
Allow yourself to forget the past year for just a few moments and focus on your overall health. This mental health challenge includes options that will assist your physical health, emotional health, and – hopefully by the end of the month – your overall energy level.
All of these activities can be done from the comfort of your own home at most times of the day and don’t cost a lot of money. You can choose to do them with a family member or by yourself, but have some fun with them!
Pick one activity each day and see if you can accomplish them all in the next 30 days. You do not need to go in order, but I encourage you to do every single one – even if today’s challenge doesn’t feel like an easy task.
This 30 day mental wellness challenge isn’t meant to make you feel comfortable, it is meant to expose you to new skills, help you practice gratitude, and have a little fun. Relax and go with it!
If you don’t have access to something on the list (for example, you only have a shower and not a bathtub), do the equivalent of the physical activity. Take a 10 minute shower where you relax and try to calm your heart rate. If you don’t have crayons or markers, practice self-care by doing some doodles with a pen or pencils. The idea is to do something relaxing and enjoyable, not to stress about the specifics.
Remember my friends, this too shall pass! No matter what is happening in the world, there are things that you can do to brighten your day. Print out my 30 day challenge and have fun with it!
