It is 2020! Are you excited or exhausted? Probably a little of both?
At this time of year, the holiday shopping is done, the food preparations are over, cleaning the house can take a break (okay, not really, but let’s pretend) and your bank account is spent (see what I did there??).
So, I have a New Year’s financial challenge for you to get the year started on the right foot. It can be very difficult to save money without a plan, so let my free Save $2020 In 2020 worksheet be your guide.
If you put away approximately $38.85 each week, you will end up saving a total of $2020 by the end of the year. You can use that money towards a vacation, holiday gifts, stash it away as a nest egg – anything!
Here is how it works – print out this form and keep it on your fridge or in a safe place. Each week, put away $38.85 or more. (I would round this to $39 or $40 if you can – it saves a bit more and makes it easier not having to count change.)
If you can put this money away in a savings account, you’ll earn a few additional cents in interest. At the end of the year, you’ll have at least $2020.20 without having had to stress out about saving larger numbers.
If you find that your budget doesn’t lend itself to saving $39 per week, save $5 each week if you can. That will still have you saving $260 over the course of the year, which could take care of your holiday gifts and decorations. Do what you can do, but it is always easiest to start earlier rather than later. Happy new year!
