Fun Autumn Date Ideas
Fall is a beautiful time of year, no matter where you live. The colors, the weather, the gorgeous scenic views – you can find them almost anywhere across the states. This is often the last time you can take advantage of the outside weather for a few months, so you’ll want to enjoy it – and find the romance! If you’re looking for fun autumn date ideas to go on with your partner, here are a few affordable suggestions to get you started.
Go to an Apple Orchard
Spend the day together in the fresh air! Many orchards will allow you to purchase a bag or loan you a bin where you can put your apples. When you are done picking, weigh your bounty and take them home! Orchards will allow you to be out in the tree area for most of the day if you choose, so take your time and test out varieties before you load up. Make sure that you take enough home so that you can make some delicious Apple Nachos S’mores!
When you’re done picking, head over to the shop where most orchards will offer apple cider donut and apple cider for you to purchase and take home. A warm apple cider donut will change the course of your day! Depending on the time of year and the specific orchard you choose, many will provide fall-themed activities like corn mazes and hayrides.
Enjoy a Backyard Bonfire
If you have a fire pit in your backyard, plan for a romantic backyard bonfire! Buy plenty of chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers to make some s’mores and grab a blanket to snuggle under. Once it gets dark, let the fire die out a bit and do some stargazing together. Don’t forget to put on your insect repellant once night falls, or mosquitoes may decide to crash the party! If you don’t have a fire pit, consider purchasing a small one to invest in these romantic (and family!) occasions.
Choose Halloween Costumes
You’re never too old to choose a great Halloween costume. Take your partner to a costume shop or arts and crafts store and help each other design costumes for this year’s Halloween festivities! Don’t be afraid to get creative! And remember, you don’t have to buy everything you try on. Have fun with it!
Pick Out the Perfect Pumpkin
Carving pumpkins is a Halloween tradition, but also a fun date activity. First, take your partner to a pumpkin patch so that you can pick out pumpkins together. While you’re there, see if you can treat yourself to some apple cider donuts or other fun treats. Next, go home, turn on a scary movie, and start carving! Once you’re done, put a light in them and display them outside together. Don’t forget to save the pumpkin seeds so that you can toast them later as a snack.
Go on a Leaf-Spotting Drive
The highlight of the fall season is the beautiful colors. You’ll see all kinds of leaves changing from green to yellow, orange or red. Pack a lunch and a thermos full of hot cocoa, hop in the car and take a drive through the country so that you can see all of the fall colors. Try driving the same route once a week throughout the fall so that you can see how the colors change over time. To create a lasting reminder of your drives, take pictures at the same spot each time and arrange them in a slideshow, or frame them, and make them art for your wall!
Get Scared Together
If you love spooky Halloween stuff, check out some scary movies! Many areas will also have outside spooky corn mazes, creepy buildings and more. Do a quick Google search for “haunted attractions near me,” and you’ll be on the right track for a spooky and fun filled evening with your honey.
Capture It
If you’re a fan of selfies, turn your pictures into a date! Plan a day where you visit a few different autumn-like locales (a pumpkin patch or pumpkin carving, in front of a beautiful tree, in a pile of leaves, etc.) and take selfies with your sweetheart. When you’re done, print out the best photos and make a framed collage to hang in your home. Do this for every season and you have some really fun art – and beautiful pictures to boot!
Autumn is such a beautiful time of year, it would be a shame not to take advantage of all of the activities that take place during the season. There is so much to do that you really don’t have to have a ton of money to enjoy yourself. With a little creativity, you’ll be able to come up with an even wider range of choices that appeal to both you and your sweetie! What do you do on dates this season? I’d love to know!
