Time for month five of Mindfulness Meditation exercises! You can read through all the previous Mindfulness Meditation months to get yourself going before this one, but then come back to join us here!

Mindfulness Meditation is about finding ways to help center yourself. These exercises are meant to help you find some peace within yourself, and help guide you towards a more calm and positive existence. You can practice these activities on the train, in the car, in the bathroom, at a restaurant – wherever works for you. The most important thing is to do them – and do them consistently – in order to see their effectiveness on your life.

Mindfulness Meditation Exercise – Month #5

This is about giving yourself some care and attention. Finding that quiet space in your head that needs a bit of extra nurturing. Here is my challenge to you:

Create a daily affirmation list for yourself. Write it in a notebook (meant for these exercises) and speak it out loud to yourself once per day.

When Aibileen daily affirmed to her charge in The Help, “You is kind, you is smart, you is important,” she provided a reminder that there is a way to give what we need to ourselves and to others in seconds per day. And while it is unbelievably important to give affirmations to our children, it is a practice that we owe ourselves as well. In your Mindfulness Meditation notebook, write out four or five affirmations for yourself. You are beautiful, smart, gentle, aware, loved – whatever your heart drives you towards. After creating your affirmation list, speak it out loud to yourself (in the mirror, if possible) every morning. Then go about your day. Over time, you should find that you are hearing it in your head and saying it to yourself more often. This will help you instill confidence and self love – something that we all deserve to have.
Good luck!
