One of the things that I love about fall (and yes, it is still fall!) are the fall flavors. Spices, pumpkin, roasted nuts and pumpkin seeds – they all make you feel like autumn. It is like jumping in piles of leaves while watching the colors change, but for your taste buds.

I recently discovered that Red Mango has a number of fall flavored smoothies that include Banana Chai, Roasted Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Spice. All three are made with coconut milk, and they are also all-natural and gluten-free. I’m going to be honest – before Red Mango let me know about this, I didn’t even realize that Red Mango had smoothies. I may be the only one on the planet, but I have always taken my kids there to get frozen yogurt with awesome toppings. This was a whole new world to discover!

My kids, my husband and I decided to go there and share two smoothies: the Roasted Peanut Butter and the Pumpkin Spice. I count peanut butter as one of the food groups, so that was a must, and none of us had tried anything like a pumpkin smoothie before, so we wanted to give it a go as well.

The peanut butter smoothie was cold and refreshing, while still tasting like roasted peanut butter. We all felt like there was a hint of a different flavor mixed in with the peanut butter (banana? maybe it was the coconut milk?), but we couldn’t put our fingers on it. The other thing is that it isn’t overly rich or sweet, which is something you might be looking for in a milkshake, but not a smoothie. We definitely favored this flavor and only wished that we had some chocolate to dip in it (or was that just me?).

On the pumpkin smoothie, we were a bit more torn. My daughter enjoyed it, but my son really didn’t. My husband and I each thought that it needed more spices in order to call it “Pumpkin Spice,” but that maybe our particular smoothie didn’t have enough added by the smoothie-maker, or that we weren’t used to having a cold pumpkin beverage. Which is really what it tasted like, a cold pumpkin beverage. I think that this variety is something that you are going to want to try if you are really into pumpkin, but that if you are on the fence, opt for one of the other two.

All in all, we were glad that we tried both varieties, but would probably only purchase the Roasted Peanut Butter again. And now that we know that they carry smoothies, we’ll be investigating other flavors as well!

Did you know that Incorporate BRIX Holdings, the owner of Red Mango, is also owner of other health-conscious brands such as Red Brick Pizza, Smoothie Factory and Souper Salad? I didn’t, but what a great connection! There are Red Mango locations throughout the nation, so be sure to take a look and find one near you. The three fall flavors are available for a limited time only. Don’t wait if you want to try them!
