Patriotic Snack Cakes

If you’re looking for an easy patriotic dessert that is perfect for the fourth of July, Memorial Day or Labor Day, look no further than these easy American Flag Snack Cakes!

This American flag cake recipe should take you only about 15 minutes to make. With no need for a hand mixer, a paddle attachment or anything fancy, these no-bake cakes are the perfect dessert for your celebration. 

 

Using packaged Little Debbie Snack Cakes, you’re really turning these into Little Debbie July 4th cake pops with a little creativity. In the end, you’ll have the deliciousness of Little Debbie and the patriotism of the holidays. 

With decorated red stripes and blue stars, the only tool you’ll need to make these is a few decorating bags. If you don’t have decorating bags, you can use any zip top baggie for the same effect. 

These Patriotic Snack Cakes are vegetarian, so you don’t have to worry about serving them to your guests! 

Ingredients for American Flag Cakes: A box of Little Debbie Fancy Cakes, a clear bowl of red candy melts, a clear bowl of blue candy melts and a white cup of white dot sprinkles

Red White And Blue American Flag Cake

How To Make:

Ingredients:
1 box Little Debbie White Fancy Cakes
1 bag Wilton red candy melts
1 bag Wilton blue candy melts

Directions:

Unwrap your white fancy cakes and place them on a piece of parchment paper.

In a medium bowl that is microwave safe, melt one cup of the red candy melts in the microwave on 50% power for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Do the same for the blue candy melts in a separate bowl.

Cut a very small tip off the end of the bags.

Next, is your red layer. Draw red wavy lines with the other piping bag across the white frosting of the snack cake. You should be able to fit four or five on the entire cake.

Think about serving these on a cake plate next to some fresh berries and Cool Whip or whipped cream. Blueberries, strawberries or raspberries might be best, to go with the patriotic theme. 

How Do I Store These American Flag Cakes?

These cakes are best stored at room temperature or slightly cooler. You can refrigerate them for a few days after preparation, but you may want to let them warm up a bit before serving. If they are too cool, the inside of the cakes will harden just a bit.

  • 1 box Little Debbie White Fancy Cakes
  • 1 bag Wilton red candy melts
  • 1 bag Wilton blue candy melts
  • White confetti sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Unwrap your Little Debbie cakes and place on a piece of parchment paper.
  2. In two small, separate microwave safe bowls, melt one cup of each red and blue candy melts in the microwave on 50% power for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
  3. Carefully pour your melted candy melts into two separate decorating bags.
  4. Cut a very small tip off the end of the bags.
  5. Use your blue melted candy to draw a square onto the top left corner of each cake, then fill it in with the same melted chocolate.
  6. Top the blue candy square with white sprinkles before it hardens.
  7. Use your red melted candy to draw wavy stripes on to each cake.
  8. Place a popsicle stick in the bottom left corner of each cake and serve.
