Red White And Blue Desserts

When looking for 4th of July recipes, there are a million options that you may have in your back pocket. Which is why it is fun to try something new! These fun and festive Patriotic Pudding Cups are actually super easy to make, but they look really impressive when you’re done.

4th of July desserts don’t have to be difficult – and you don’t only have to make them in July! Remember that Memorial Day and Labor Day are other great holidays to whip out your red, white and blue desserts.

These layered pudding cups are vegetarian and only have four ingredients – they’re super easy desserts. The trick is that you are going to separate the pudding and color each section with food coloring. I prefer a gel color as opposed to the drops, but it is totally up to your preference as to what you use.

Patriotic Recipes

Ingredients:
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix 5.1 oz
3 cups cold milk (double check this with the pudding box!)
1 tub whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
Star sprinkles
Red and blue gel colors

Instant pudding in a mixing bowl next to food coloring gel on a wooden cutting board next to a metal muffin pan on a blue tableTake out a large bowl and whisk your milk and vanilla pudding together for about 2 minutes. Be sure to check the instructions on your pudding box in order to use the correct amount of milk! You are done whisking when there are no lumps left in the soft mixture.

Two mixing bowls with pudding, one red, one yellow on a wooden cutting board next to a metal butter knife on a blue wooden tablePour half of the pudding into a separate container, leaving half in the bowl you were just using for mixing.

Tint one container of pudding red and the other portion blue with a few drops of food coloring. Add more drops until you are happy with the color.

A muffin tin with glasses tilted in the cups next to two gel food coloring canisters on a blue wooden tableTake out a muffin tin and six small glass cups. Place each cup into a muffin tin on an angle.

Blue pudding in glasses tipped on the side on a blue wooden tableEvenly pour your blue pudding into each cup, allowing it to almost spill out and lay on an angle. Do your best to make these equal portions.

Place the muffin tin with cups in the refrigerator and allow that layer of pudding to set there for about 20 minutes. Place the red pudding in the refrigerator at this time as well so that it can thicken.

Glass cups with blue and red pudding next to each other next to a muffin tin with more glasses of only blue pudding on a blue wooden tableRemove your pudding and cups from the refrigerator. Stir the red pudding and stand each cup on the table upright. Spoon your red pudding into each cup, attempting to give the red pudding a similar slant up the side of the glass as the blue side.

Red and blue pudding in glasses with whipped topping on top next to the tub of whipped topping with a metal spoon inside on a blue wooden tableTop the middle of each cup with a dollop of whipped topping. You want this right on top of the pudding.

Add some patriotic sprinkles on top of the white layer. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Keep them in the refrigerator on a baking sheet under a layer of plastic wrap.

What Can I Serve With This Patriotic Dessert?

This no-bake dessert is excellent to serve all on its own, but if you want to expand your dessert table past tasty treats, you could put out some fresh strawberries and fresh blueberries to compliment the red, white and blue theme.

Can I Turn This Into One Large Dessert?

Yes! If you don’t want a pudding shot and would rather one large dessert, pour each colored layer into a trifle bowl and use some vanilla wafers in between each color. That way you’ll have three layers of beautiful colors, but you’ll have some texture in between them in the way of the wafers. They will also keep you from too much pudding mixture.
