Easy Party Favor Treats

If you need a super easy and festive dessert that will work for almost any celebration, these Champagne Glass Cupcakes are the answer!

Whether you need party favor food for a bridal shower or baby shower, a graduation party, New Year’s Eve party, or the holiday season, these will come in handy.

With a handful of simple ingredients, you can tailor the finished product to the occasion you are celebrating. Use gold sprinkles and gold cupcake liners to help wish everyone a Happy New Year or green and red for Christmas.

It doesn’t get much easier than these and while these fun party favors are extremely budget-friendly, they also look fun, fancy, and festive!

What Type Of Champagne Glasses Should I Use?

The most important thing to remember when choosing the kind of champagne glass you use is that the glasses are actually cupcake holders.

That means that you need a longer, slimmer glass with a medium opening at the top, typically called a champagne flute. A wide-rimmed champagne glass (also called a coupe champagne glass) or a wine glass will likely be too wide to hold the cupcake.

At the same time, some champagne flutes get very slim at the opening, so look for something that tapers from thin at the bottom to wide at the opening. Either glass or plastic will work.

What Kind Of Cupcakes Should I Bake?

The best thing about these champagne cupcakes is that you can use absolutely any flavor of cupcake you’d like to make.

Whether you’ve got funfetti, chocolate, or vanilla cupcakes and frosting from the grocery store or some other combination, they will work for this tasty treat.

If you want to incorporate champagne flavor into the actual cupcake, you can bake something like this pink champagne cupcake recipe with buttercream frosting or champagne cupcakes and frosting with the regular champagne of your choice.

Can I Use Store-Bought Cupcakes?

Yes! If you’d rather not make homemade cupcakes, you can purchase pre-made cupcakes from your local store or local bakery. Make sure that you have full-sized fluffy cupcakes, as mini cupcakes will be too small for your champagne glasses.

Can I Use Chocolate Instead Of Hard Candy?

If you are preparing to make this sweet treat for Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day, you may be inclined to want to use small chocolates instead of hard candy in the flutes.

While you can use any type of candy you’d like, be careful to make sure that your dessert glasses are kept in a cool space and that the cupcakes have cooled completely or you may find the chocolates melting together in your glasses.

Champagne Glass Cupcakes Notes:

  • You should not need a stand mixer or hand mixer to mix your cake batter, but you can use one on low speed if you choose.
  • Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before inserting them into the champagne glasses.
  • You are best off using a harder candy like SweeTarts that won’t melt or stick together while inside the champagne glass.
  • The amount of candy needed may vary based on the size of your champagne glasses and the size of your cupcakes.

How To Make Champagne Glass Cupcakes

Champagne Glass Cupcake Ingredients:

1 box cake mix
2 tubs cake frosting

1 cup water
3 large eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
8-10 boxes or bags of candy
Colorful sprinkles

Supplies Needed:

Large mixing bowl
Kitchen spoon or wooden spoon
2 muffin tins 12 ct
24 cupcake liners
Wire cooling rack
Tall champagne glasses
Pastry bag (optional)

Directions:

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. (Double-check this temperature with the oven temperature indicated on your box of cake mix. If it lists a different temp, use the one on the box.)

Step 2: In a large bowl, mix together your cake mix, and other required ingredients per the box directions.

This typically includes one cup of water, 3 large eggs, and 1/3 cup of vegetable oil, but be sure to consult your specific directions.

Step 3: Take out two cupcake pans and line each one with 12 baking cups. If you only have one cupcake pan, you can bake two batches of cupcakes using the same pan.

Step 4: Fill the cupcake batter to about 2/3 full in each cup and continue until all of the liners are full.

Step 6: Place the baked cupcakes on a wire rack and allow them to cool completely to room temperature.

Step 7: Take out your champagne flutes and fill each one with candy to approximately 3/4 full. You want to make sure there is enough candy so that the full height of the cupcake liner isn’t completely inside the glass.

Step 8: Once the cupcakes have completely cooled, frost each cupcake. To make the frosting a bit fancier, add it to a piping bag and pipe it out onto each cupcake.

Step 9: Add some sprinkles to the top of each cupcake.

Step 10: Once ready, insert each fully dressed cupcake into the top of each champagne glass so that they are now touching the top of the candy.

Add them to your dessert table and enjoy!

How To Store Leftover Champagne Glass Cupcakes

If you have any leftover party favors, it is best to take them apart and store each component separately. Store the candy in the original bag or a resealable bag.

Store any leftover cupcakes on a plate on the counter covered with plastic wrap for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. If your cupcakes have cream cheese frosting or buttercream frosting, make sure to store them in the refrigerator the entire time.
