Everyone’s favorite appetizer, this easy buffalo chicken dip recipe is one that anyone can make. Using only a few ingredients that you can buy at any grocery store, it is a game day food that is a great option any time of year.
I love the flavor of buffalo sauce. If I go to a casual restaurant, there is a good chance that I am going to be ordering a buffalo chicken sandwich, buffalo chicken wings, or get a buffalo dipping sauce on the side. I crave the buffalo flavor! My daughter always teases me, but I just love it.
Maybe it’s for this reason that I am always looking for a chicken wing dip at a party – or making one for my own. It’s an amazing appetizer with a little bit of kick that I am always looking to eat leftover the next day.
This cheesy buffalo dip is not only an easy recipe that tastes amazing, but it’s low carb and something that will work for anyone on a gluten-free diet. A flavor that is universally loved (and expected!) on an appetizer table, you’ll make this one over and over.
Recipe Notes:
- You can use softened cream cheese or cream cheese right out of the refrigerator and it will work with full-fat or low-fat cream cheese.
- Although the cheese will cool, this delicious dip will be fine sitting at room temperature for several hours.
How To Make Cheesy Buffalo Chicken Dip
Cheesy Buffalo Chicken Dip Ingredients:
2 large chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
1/2 cup Frank’s Hot Sauce
2 tablespoons ranch dressing
8 oz cream cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Supplies Needed:
8×8-inch baking dish
Kitchen spoon or wooden spoon
Butter knife
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In an 8×8″ oven-safe dish, pour your buffalo sauce into the bottom and spread it around evenly.
Step 2: After you have cooked and shredded each boneless chicken breast, distribute it on top of the buffalo wing sauce.
Step 3: Cut your cream cheese into about 12 smaller pieces and add them to the baking dish. Add your ranch dressing as well.
Step 4: Stir everything together and bake for 15 minutes or until hot.
Step 5: Stir again in the casserole dish, and top the creamy dip with mozzarella cheese.
Step 6: Bake for another 5 minutes, until you’ve got a hot dip and your shredded cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 7: Top with some chopped green onions or fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Store any leftover dip in an airtight container or in the serving bowl wrapped tightly in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Monterey Jack cheese or sharp cheddar cheese are good options. You want types of cheeses that will melt, so parmesan cheese or any harder cheeses won’t work well.
Can I Use Leftover Chicken In This Recipe?
Yes! For any easy dip recipe, you should be able to use what you have on hand. You can use leftover cooked chicken breasts or chicken thighs, deli rotisserie chicken, or canned chicken in a pinch.
That said, whatever you are using, make sure that it is shredded chicken before it goes into the dip mixture.
Can I Make This Spicy Buffalo Chicken Dip Less Spicy?
Yes! The Frank’s RedHot Sauce does have some kick and you are using quite a bit in this buffalo dip recipe.
