How To Store Leftover Italian Hoagie Dip
Store any leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Can Italian Hoagie Dip Be Made Ahead Of Time?
Yes! You can make this easy dip ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator, but there are two things to keep in mind.
First, it will only be good for about two days once it has been created. Don’t make your dip too far ahead of time.
Second, if you do make it ahead of time, some of the creamy Italian dressing will drip off of the sub sandwich ingredients. Be sure to stir it well before serving and eating.
Can I Use Different Types Of Meats And Cheese In My Italian Hoagie Dip?
This dip should resemble your favorite sub sandwich, so you can alter the meats and cheeses as you choose.
To maintain the Italian sub feel, the easiest deli meat swaps would include Soppressata or prosciutto, but you could include some deli turkey or deli roast beef too.
As far as cheeses, fresh mozzarella cheese would be your best bet, as harder cheeses like gorgonzola cheese or parmesan cheese will change the flavor a little bit too much. You could also use chopped American cheese slices.
What Are Some Modifications That Can Make This Italian Hoagie Dip Healthier?
Because there are a ton of sandwiches made in a ton of different ways, this is an incredibly easy dip to tinker with if you lean toward a low fat or low calorie diet.
While it is pretty healthy just the way it is, the more fresh vegetables you add, the more bulky and diluted the calories become.
You can easily add some chopped black olives, chopped cucumber slices, and chopped green peppers – all of which you could see on an authentic Italian hoagie at any sub shop.
Additionally, you can use low-fat mayo or fat-free mayo instead of full-fat, but keep in mind that each of these will change the flavor a bit depending on the mayonnaise brand you choose.
