Taco Salad Dip

When you are having people over or going to a friend’s house for a potluck, nothing goes over quite as well as a scrumptious taco dip. My easy 7-Layer Taco Dip is something that you can put together in minutes and it tastes amazing!

With only seven ingredients, this is the kind of dish that you can pick up the ingredients for, keep in the fridge, and cabinets, and pull them out when you need them. You can easily make this the night before you need it or in the half-hour before, no problem.

One of the ingredients in this classic seven layer taco dip is LALAยฎ Crema Mexicana. If you’re not familiar with this sour cream, you’re going to love it! It has a rich and creamy flavor, zero grams of sugar, and is low in sodium. It is also the #1 Crema en Mรฉxico for both savory and sweet foods (#1 in Crema Market Share -Nielsen Retail total Mexico)!

This sour cream is not available everywhere, so be sure to check the LALA Crema product locator before looking at your local grocery store. I purchase mine at my local Walmart store and I know that many Walmart stores carry it. LALAยฎ Crema Mexicana can be found in the Hispanic dairy section of Walmart, alongside the cheeses and chorizo.

If you are concerned about your safety with entering stores, make sure to take advantage of Walmart’s pickup program. They will shop for you and you can pick up your order during a scheduled slot or have it delivered to your house. Whatever you are most comfortable with!

It is really easy to change up this 7-layer dip for different dietary needs. It is naturally gluten-free, nut-free, and egg-free just as it is. If you want to make it vegetarian, use vegetarian refried beans and your problem is solved!

One of the great recipes that you can make for game day, Super Bowl parties, Memorial Day, the fourth of July, Cinco de Mayo, or your next fiesta, this is one of the best party appetizers you’re going to find. The ultimate party appetizer because it makes so much, this seven layer bean dip is going to be a huge hit!

Salsa, shredded cheese, refried beans, shredded lettuce, cheese sauce in clear glass bowls, two Roma tomatoes and LALA Crema Mexicana on a wood table

Seven Layer Dip Recipe

Ingredients:
1 can refried beans 16 oz
1 tub LALAยฎ Crema Mexicana 24 oz
1 jar cheese sauce 16 oz
1 jar salsa 16 oz
1 bag Mexican cheese blend, shredded
1 bag shredded iceberg lettuce 8 oz
2 small Roma tomatoes, diced

Chopped tomatoes on a blue cutting board with a knife with a black handlePull out a cutting board and using a sharp knife, dice your medium tomatoes. (This is the hardest part of the entire taco salad dip.)

Take out a 13 x 9-inch dish. I prefer to use a clear baking dish so that you can see the layers from the outside.

Refried beans spread on the bottom of a 9x13" baking dishSpread your can of refried beans evenly across the bottom of your empty dish. Because this is the first layer, you do not need to heat them first. They should spread easily if you use a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to break them up. If you’d prefer to stir them in a medium bowl first, that’s fine too.

A 9x13" baking dish with LALA Crema Mexicana spread across it, with a bowl of cheese sauce, a bowl of salsa and the LALA Crema container abovePour out your LALAยฎ Crema Mexicana on top of the beans. Spread it evenly across the dish and out to the sides so that you can see two layers through the glass. These don’t have to be perfect lines, you just want to make sure that you can see the colors.

A 9x13" clear baking dish with LALA Crema spread across and cheese sauce spread above it, glass bowl of shredded cheese and glass bowl of salsa abovePour your cheddar cheese sauce on top of the sour cream layer. Spread it as best you can all the way out to the sides of the dish. This delicious layer may mix a bit with the sour cream, which is fine.

Store your seven-layer taco dip in the refrigerator, but you can leave it out at room temperature with the rest of your party food for several hours. Enjoy!

Can I Add Taco Meat To This Easy Taco Dip Recipe?

Yes! I would not remove any of the layers that are already included in this easy dip recipe, but you can add ground meat if you’d like. Season some lean ground beef or ground turkey with a small package taco seasoning mix in a large skillet. Drain the fat and allow the meat to cool. Add the meat between the bean layer and the layer of sour cream.

Can I Add More Of My Favorite Taco Toppings To This Homemade Taco Dip Recipe?

Yes! This specific recipe is (in my opinion) the perfect appetizer party food, but you can change it up or add your favorite toppings to fit your personal taste. Some simple options that you might find in other easy recipes for dips include green onions, black olives, diced green bell pepper or red pepper, jalapeรฑo peppers, chopped red onions, fresh pico de gallo instead of tomatoes, or refried black beans instead of standard refried beans. You could also add a guacamole layer using my homemade guacamole recipe. Just remember that your Mexican layered dip may have more than seven layers by the end, so make sure there is enough room in your serving dish (or use a trifle bowl).

Can You Make This 7 Layer Dip The Night Before?

Yes! My favorite thing about this cold dip – other than the tasty layers – is that it is a make-ahead dip. Assemble the refried beans, sour cream, nacho cheese, and salsa in the serving dish and cover it tightly. Refrigerate it overnight. Cut up the tomatoes on the same day and place them in a Ziploc bag or small bowl in the refrigerator. When it comes time to serve the dip, unwrap the layers of flavorful dip you’ve already assembled, sprinkle the shredded cheese layer, shredded lettuce, and tomatoes on top, and serve. Easy peasy!
