Time for month ten of Mindfulness Meditation exercises! You can read through all the previous Mindfulness Meditation months to get yourself going before this one, but then come back to join us here!

Mindfulness Meditation is about finding ways to help center yourself. These exercises are meant to help you find some peace within yourself, and help guide you towards a more calm and positive existence.

You can practice these activities on the train, in the car, in the bathroom, at a restaurant – wherever works for you. The most important thing is to do them – and do them consistently – in order to see their effectiveness on your life.

Mindfulness Meditation Exercise – Month #10

This exercise is about creating and respecting your safe space. Here is my challenge to you:

Choose not answer the phone or a text once per week.

It is important to have communication with others and to be out in the world. That said, when someone calls your phone or sends you a text, they are asking that you stop what you are doing and make that interaction a priority.

Sometimes that is fine! Sometimes you’ve been waiting to hear from that person or wanting to ask a question.

Other times, you are in the middle of working, exercising, eating dinner or spending time with your kids. These are not the times where that interaction needs to take priority.

Once per week, let your phone ring and allow your voicemail to take a message. Call the person back when you are finished with what you were doing.

Think about putting your phone away during dinner at a restaurant or with the family. That text or email can wait the hour.

Do yourself a favor and try to be in the moment with the people who are in front of you. It is not always easy, but it is worth it. Good luck!
