How To Make Caramel Pecan Chocolate Covered Oreos Recipe
Caramel Pecan Chocolate Covered Oreos Ingredients:
12 Oreo cookies (I used Double Stuf Oreos)
1 tablespoon solid shortening
1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
12 pretzel snaps
12 large whole pecans
1/2 cup Kraft caramel squares, unwrapped
1 teaspoon water
Supplies Needed:
Oreo Cookie Molds
Double boiler or a large and medium pot
Large cookie sheet
Medium bowl
Kitchen spoon
Directions:
Step 1: Take out a large baking sheet and line it with a piece of parchment paper or wax paper. Set it aside.
Step 2: In a double boiler, melt the solid shortening.
Step 3: Add your milk chocolate chips and stir occasionally until melted, being careful not to let it burn.
Once the chocolate is completely melted and smooth, you may want to transfer the melted chocolate into a medium bowl for easier handling.
Step 4: On a flat work surface and using your cookie molds, add 2 tablespoons of melted chocolate to each mold cup.
Step 5: Place a single Oreo cookie on top of the melted chocolate in each cup.
Step 6: Spoon additional melted chocolate on top of each cookie until they are covered completely. Be sure to scrape the sides of the bowl to use any extra chocolate.
Note – If you see any air bubbles in the chocolate or the mold cups, tap the sides or bottom of the mold a bit until they smooth out.
Step 7: Refrigerate the cookie molds for 1 hour for the best results.
Step 8: Once chilled, pop the cookies out of their mold cups and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 9: Place a pretzel snap on top of each cookie.
Step 10: Lay a whole pecan on top of each pretzel.
Step 11: Transfer the unwrapped Kraft caramels to a microwave-safe bowl.
Step 12: Add 1 teaspoon of water and microwave the caramel mixture for 30 seconds.
Step 13: Remove the melted caramel and stir. Continue to microwave in 10-second intervals until completely melted and smooth.
Step 14: Allow the hot caramel to cool for 5 minutes and then drizzle some warm caramel on top of each Oreo. Serve and enjoy!
How To Store Leftover Caramel Pecan Chocolate Covered Oreos
Store any leftover chocolate-covered Oreos on a plate in the refrigerator or at room temperature for up to 4 days.
What Do I Do If I Don’t Have Cookie Molds?
The cookie molds are there to give you a smooth finish, but there is a workaround if you don’t have any.
The easiest way is to use a package of milk chocolate almond bark or chocolate candy melts instead of the shortening and chocolate chips.
Melt your alternative chocolate choice and dip cookies fully in the bowl. Remove them with a fork or candy dipping scoop, letting the excess chocolate drip off, and place them on a lined cookie sheet. Allow them to harden and continue the recipe from there.
Can I Make These Chocolate Dipped Oreos Ahead Of Time?
Yes, kind of. You can prepare the no-bake cookies a day or two before you plan to serve this dessert recipe and store them in an airtight container or a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator.
On the day you are ready to serve your sweet treats, take them out of the refrigerator and continue the easy steps from there.
Can I Decorate These For Different Holidays?
Yes! These are the perfect treat for a special occasion of any kind. To alter them for different occasions, consider using a different type of chocolate and your favorite sprinkles or additional toppings.
Use dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, or white chocolate chips to change the sweet outer shell. Use different colors of holiday sprinkles to decorate them for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, or even Halloween chocolate treats.
You could also crush candy canes and add them to the silicone molds on either the top or bottom of the cookies. There are a lot of fun ways to decorate these and come up with your own designs!
