How To Make Chocolate Valentine’s Day Cookies
Chocolate Valentine’s Day Cookies Ingredients:
1 box brownie mix (around 15.7 oz)
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
Large baking sheet
Parchment paper or nonstick cooking spray
Large mixing bowl
Electric mixer or wooden spoon
Small cookie scoop or tablespoon
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 325 degrees and line an ungreased cookie sheet with a sheet of parchment paper. Add some of the heart sprinkles to a small bowl and set it aside.
Step 2: In a large bowl, combine your brownie mix, eggs, vanilla, and baking powder.
Mix well with a hand mixer, stand mixer, or by hand until everything is well integrated, making sure to scrape the sides of the large bowl.
Step 3: Scoop your dough out with a tablespoon (for portion size) and roll your dough into balls.
Step 4: Dip the top of your dough balls into the Valentine’s sprinkles and place each one onto your baking pan.
If you don’t see enough sprinkles on the tops of the cookies, add a few more by hand.
Step 5: Bake the batch of cookies for 9-11 minutes until you have soft centers and crisp edges.
Step 6: Right when you take your decorated cookies out of the oven, while still on the baking sheet, press the top of the cookie down with the bottom of a glass to flatten them slightly.
Step 7: Allow your baked cookies to cool on a cooling rack and enjoy!
How To Store Leftover Chocolate Valentine’s Day Cookies
Store any leftovers in an airtight container, a sealed plastic bag, or on a plate wrapped tightly in plastic wrap at room temperature for up to a week for best results.
Can I Add Extra Chocolate To This Valentine’s Day Cookie Recipe?
Yes! I would not recommend using chocolate or chocolate chips in place of the brownie mix, but you can add chocolate chips or pieces to the batter if you’d like to turn these special treats into Valentine’s Day chocolate chip cookies.
I Can’t Find Heart Sprinkles – What Should I Use?
If you can’t find heart sprinkles, feel free to use any sprinkles with Valentine’s Day colors. Anything that contains clear crystal, white, pink, or red sprinkles will work.
You could even dip the top of each cookie into different colored sprinkles so that each cookie is unique.
Can I Turn These Into Chocolate Heart-Shaped Cookies?
Yes! To turn this fun treat into an edible Valentine heart, you will have to do it after the cookies are baked, but before they set.
Make sure that each cookie dough ball has a good amount of heart sprinkles on top and then bake the cookies according to the original recipe.
Once they have been baked and using heart cookie cutters, slice heart shapes out of the chewy cookies you have baked. Allow them to cool and serve, while eating the leftover scraps yourself.
Unfortunately, you can’t shape these into a cute heart beforehand as the dough will spread during the baking process, so this is your best bet.
Can I Turn These Valentine’s Day Desserts Into Sandwich Cookies?
Yes! The best way to turn these into little Valentine cookie sandwiches is by adding frosting to the middle.
Pick up a tub of vanilla or chocolate frosting from your local grocery store and much like my Fruity Pebbles Rice Krispie Treats Sandwiches, use a knife to spread some on the flat part of one cookie.
Sandwich a second Valentine’s cookie on the other side and you’re done. A perfect Valentine’s Day treat!
