Brown Sugar Grilled Pineapple Rings
If you’ve been looking for the perfect side dish or pineapple dessert for your next barbecue, you have to try these Easy Grilled Pineapple Slices! With two different methods of preparing them, you can choose the best way for you!
Grilled pineapple is one of my absolute favorite recipes for summer and fall. Pineapples are in season and typically very affordable at the store. Plus, we are all so busy finding sides and meat for our barbecues that we often resort to fruit salads instead of anything creative.
These pineapple steaks are incredibly easy and unbelievably delicious. You will get your best results if you have a ripe pineapple that has been kept at room temperature, so don’t keep yours in the refrigerator.
Gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, and paleo-friendly, this is really a simple recipe with a little bit of flair. Take your favorite food and turn it up a notch!
Pair this juicy pineapple with my Crispy Asparagus, Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta, and Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes for a great spread!
Recipe Notes:
- When you slice off the tough outer skin of the pineapple, make sure to get all of it so that you aren’t picking pineapple eyes off of the finished product.
- Don’t have access to the fresh tropical fruit? Use canned fruit in a pinch.
- If you don’t have time to marinate the pineapple, create your mixture of brown sugar in a small bowl and use a basting brush to cover the top, bottom, and sides of the pineapple slices before grilling. You will still get some of those flavors.
- This delicious treat goes great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
How To Make This Fresh Grilled Pineapple Recipe
Ingredients:
1 whole pineapple
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup olive oil or water
Also needed:
Pineapple corer
Sharp Knife
Grill
Directions:
Pull out a cutting board and a sharp paring knife. Take your fresh pineapple and slice off the fruit crown from the top of the pineapple. Slice off the bottom of the pineapple as well.
Set the raw pineapple upright and carefully slice off the prickly sides along the curve of the fruit. When you are done, there should be no remnants of the outside of the pineapple left.
Use a pineapple corer to remove the hard center of your pineapple.
Slice your sweet pineapple into thick slices. You should get about five slices per whole pineapple.
Now it’s your turn to choose! Here are two ways for grilling pineapple rings.
Plain Grilled Pineapple #1
Place each of your slices of pineapple on your outdoor grill on medium heat and cook each side for about 10 minutes. You want to see nice grill marks in your fresh pineapple slices before flipping.
Once ready, carefully remove your juicy grilled pineapple from the grill and serve hot or warm.
Brown Sugar Grilled Pineapple #2
If you want a slightly more savory option, try this easy brown sugar grilled pineapple option!
After cutting your pineapple, marinate the pineapple slices in 1/2 cup of brown sugar mixed into 1/4 cup of olive oil or water. Leave your pineapple in the brown sugar mixture for a few hours before grilling.
Once ready, place the pineapple slices directly on the hot grill grates and cook on each side for 10 minutes. This will leave your pineapple with a delicious sweet and savory taste.
Store any leftovers in a large resealable plastic bag or an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
What Grill Should I Use For This Easy Grilled Pineapple?
You can use any kind of grill for this grilling process. Whether you have a gas grill or a charcoal grill, this is going to be the best grilled pineapple you’ve ever had!
If you don’t have access to a grill, you could try doing this with an indoor grill pan. You will still get a nice grilled pineapple, but you will be missing some of the smokiness from the outdoor equivalents. If you can use an outdoor grill, you will get the full flavors of the dish.
