With simple ingredients that you should be able to find at your local grocery store (look for the egg roll wrappers in the produce section) these are a perfect way to begin or end the day.

Excellent for anyone with a sweet tooth, you can make these banana and Nutella rolls for dessert, as one of your sweet breakfast recipes, or for any special occasion. The entire family is going to love you for it!

Recipe Notes:

  • Be careful not to overstuff each of the egg rolls or the filling will begin to leak out while cooking.
  • Allow your crispy egg rolls to sit on a bed of paper towels after frying to allow the excess grease to be absorbed.
  • Eat your egg rolls by themselves or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert. Pair them with some fresh strawberries or fresh blueberries on the side for breakfast.

How To Make Cheesecake Filling

Step 1: Using a stand mixer or an electric hand mixer and a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until it is smooth. This will be easiest if your cream cheese is already softened.

You don’t want to over-mix. Leave your cheesecake mixture in the bowl and set it aside.

Note – If you are making this mixture ahead of time, cover it tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you are ready to assemble your cheesecake egg rolls.

How To Make Nutella Banana Cheesecake Egg Rolls

Step 1: To make the egg rolls, begin by heating the canola oil in a large skillet over medium heat. The oil doesn’t have to be too deep – an inch of vegetable oil is enough oil.

Step 3: Lay the eggroll wrappers out onto a clean surface, so that the edges of the egg roll wrapper are positioned like a diamond shape rather than a square.

Step 5: Wrap the egg roll according to the directions on the package. Typically this will involve you pulling the bottom corner up over the filling and tucking it to flatten it around the filling. Using one finger on each side, flatten the egg roll wrapper on either side of the banana.

Fold those sides over the filling mound so that they are on top of each other, and roll everything towards the center of the wrapper to meet the top corner. If the top corner doesn’t stick, use a dab of water to seal it.

How To Store Leftover Nutella Banana Cheesecake Egg Rolls

Store any leftovers in an airtight container or freezer bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

What Can I Serve On Top Of These Banana Rolls?

The perfect way to serve this amazing dessert recipe is with what you are drawn to. The first time you make them, stick with a topping of powdered sugar, whipped topping, chocolate sauce, or a drizzle of Nutella so that you can taste the original version of the recipe.

Next time, if you want to branch out, you can try topping each crispy egg roll wrapper with brown sugar, cinnamon sugar, caramel sauce, or a little creamy peanut butter.

Can I Use An Air Fryer Or Deep Fryer For These Treats?

Yes! If you’d prefer to deep fry rather than pan fry this delicious dessert, you can. The biggest difference is that by deep frying you will be exposing the egg rolls to much more oil, so you will want to be sure to dry them on a paper towel or two for a bit before serving.

To air fry them, spray your air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray, grease each egg roll with a little bit of olive oil (or more nonstick spray), and place the egg rolls in a single layer on the bottom. Bake them at 350 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes.

Your cooking time will depend on the size of your fried egg rolls, so you may want to test one at 8 minutes and bake for longer if need be.

Can I Use Spring Roll Wrappers Or Wonton Wrappers For This Sweet Dessert?

The best option for this decadent dessert is going to be the traditional egg roll wrapper.

A wonton wrapper is made from very similar ingredients but will be too small, so your cream cheese filling and banana pieces will likely leak out. In a pinch, you could use half of the ingredients and make Nutella Banana Cheesecake Wontons instead.

A spring roll wrapper has a thinner texture and traditionally does not contain egg.

If you are looking for something egg-free, this could be a decent substitute, but you will want to watch to make sure you don’t over-fry your spring roll pastry. It will cook differently because it is a different product.
