Milky Way Cake Mix Brownies

If you love Milky Way candy bars, you’re going to go crazy for these Milky Way Brownies! Delicious brownies with a special treat inside and a gooey caramel topping, these will be a huge hit.

Many brownie recipes that you are going to find use a brownie mix or cocoa powder. This is a little bit different in that the brownie base actually comes from a cake mix. For that reason, you could call this a Milky Way Cake recipe as well, but I think of these as brownies because of their fudginess.

With simple ingredients that you can find at any grocery store, this simple recipe takes very little prep time. Additionally, you can make the caramel sauce while you are baking your brownies, so the whole thing comes together very easily.

The perfect way to treat a chocolate lover and the easiest way to use up leftover Halloween candy, these will easily become a family favorite!

Recipe Notes:

  • You are better off making a homemade caramel sauce (as in the recipe below) than melting caramel candies for the topping. You want the layer of caramel to melt into each chocolatey brownie instead of sitting on top.
  • These fudgy brownies go great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

You can either pour all of the rich caramel sauce over them at once or pour half on top of the pan of brownies right away and save half to pour as a caramel layer over each portion as you serve.

Can I Use Different Chocolate Chips In These Dessert Bars?

Yes! I would stick with either milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or semi-sweet chocolate chips so that your brownie bars resemble a Milky Way bar, but feel free to choose your favorite.

Can I Make These Salted Caramel Milky Way Brownies?

Yes! If you love salted caramel brownies, this is an easy variation to make.

After you finish making your caramel recipe, remove it from the heat and add 1 teaspoon of flaky sea salt. Drizzle your caramel mixture over the top of the brownies and voila – a salted caramel brownies recipe!
