Caramel Apple Crescent Rolls
Caramel apples are synonymous with fall, but they aren’t always easy to eat. With their ooey gooey caramel on the outside, you really have to be a master to eat one without getting all sticky. That is where these Caramel Apple Crescent Rolls come in!
Light, and flakey, the caramel and apples are inside this treat. This way you can use your hands to hold the crescent and still have the deliciousness of a caramel apple!
One of the best things about this easy recipe is that you can make them differently each time you bake them. Add some chopped peanuts, mini chocolate chips or mini M&M’s – inside or outside! – to change the flavor a bit, just like you would a caramel covered apple!
This is one of those kid friendly recipes that you can let them get into if you have kids that want to help. You’ll be making sixteen total, so you could give each child two to decorate for themselves and complete the rest on your own.
These Caramel Apple Crescent Rolls are best served warm, but still delicious when they cool off – and they are perfect to put together when you need a last-minute dessert. Looking for another dessert like that? Try my No-Bake S’mores Cups!
Ingredients:
2 refrigerated crescent rolls 8 ct
2 Granny Smith apples, medium to large size
16 caramel squares
1/8 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 chopped peanuts, M&M’s minis, or mini chocolate chips (optional)
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Pull out a cutting board and a knife, and get your apples washed.
Slice your apples so that you yield eight slices from each apple. The easiest way to do this is by cutting your apple in half and then slice each of those halves into quarters.
Prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper or non-stick cooking spray. You may need two cookie sheets if you want to bake them all at the same time.
Roll out the crescent rolls on the prepared baking sheet and separate them.
Lay an apple slice on the wide end with the peel facing the outside. Place an unwrapped caramel in front of the apple on the crescent dough.
Should you choose to, sprinkle your optional nuts, chocolate chips, or M&M minis over the apple and along the crescent roll dough.
Roll the crescent dough from the wide end to the pointed end. Arrange the rolled crescents on the cookie sheet so that they are 1/2 to 1-inch apart.
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle a little of the mixture onto each of the rolled crescents.
Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until golden brown. Top with additional nuts, chocolate chips or M&M’s minis if desired.
Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving so that the caramel doesn’t burn anyone’s mouth. Enjoy!
