Apple Caramel Rolls

Caramel apples are synonymous with fall, but they aren’t always easy to eat. With their ooey gooey caramel on the outside, you have to be a master to eat one without getting all sticky. That is where these Baked Caramel Apple Crescent Rolls come in!

Light, and flakey, the caramel and apples are inside this treat. That way you can use your hands to hold the crescent and still have the deliciousness of a caramel apple.

One of the best things about this easy recipe is that you can make them differently each time you bake them. Add some great options like chopped peanuts, mini chocolate chips, or mini M&M’s – inside and outside – to change the flavor a little bit, just like you would a caramel covered apple.

This is one of those kid-friendly recipes that you can let them get into if you have kids that want to help. You’ll be making sixteen total, so you could give each child two to decorate for themselves and complete the rest on your own.

Using original crescent rolls that you’ll find in the refrigerated aisle at most grocery stores, this is an apple dessert you’ll keep coming back to. It would also make a delicious breakfast for Sunday mornings instead of danish or cinnamon rolls, particularly if you’re having family gatherings or as one of your brunch recipes.

The best way to serve this crescent roll recipe is warm, but they’re still delicious when they cool off. They’re also one of those easy recipes that you can put together when you need a last-minute dessert. Keep the ingredients on hand and you can whip them up in minutes!

A warm, gooey treat is ideal to make just after you’ve been to the apple orchard or have found Granny Smith apples on sale. In a few easy steps, this sweet treat will be enjoyed by the entire family!

Recipe Notes:

  • Serve this great recipe warm or at room temperature.
  • These pair well with some fresh fruit or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

How To Store Leftover Baked Caramel Apple Crescent Rolls

Store any leftover caramel apple rolls in an airtight container or on a plate tightly wrapped with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

How to Heat Easy Apple Pie Crescents

Warm this apple recipe in the microwave for 10 seconds before eating if you want to heat them. Be careful not to warm them too much at once or the caramel will overheat.

Can I Use Sweet Apples For This Easy Dessert Recipe?

This recipe calls for large Granny Smith apples because the tartness of this variety matches well with the sweetness of the caramel.

That said, if you don’t care for Granny Smith apples or you can’t find them at your grocery store, you can choose a sweet apple variety.

If you can find Granny Smith, I do think they are the best apples for this particular recipe. Try them out the first time you make them and see what you think.

Can I Turn These Into Mini Apple Pies?

Yes! You can easily turn these delicious crescent roll apple dumplings into a twist on an apple pie. Keep the original recipe listed above, but swap out the fresh apples for apple pie filling.

Once all of your simple ingredients have been added to the dough triangles, roll up the dough from the short end to the point of the triangle.

Pinch seams to ensure that nothing leaks out. Serve these as Caramel Apple Pie Crescents and everyone will love them! Perfect for Christmas morning, after Thanksgiving dinner, or any other special occasion.

Can I Top These Easy Apple Dumplings With Melted Butter?

Yes! You shouldn’t need to, as the brown sugar mixture will bake into the top of the dough without it. That said, if you want to melt butter in a separate bowl and use a pastry brush to paint a little onto the top of each crescent roll before baking, you can. Choose unsalted butter instead of salted.
