Simple recipes are perfect for busy-day meals and these Roast Beef and Cheddar Crescent Rolls will not disappoint!

Whether you have leftover roast beef from a weeknight dinner or deli roast beef, anyone can make these easy rolls. A perfect appetizer when you have a hungry crowd after school or at a family gathering, these are also a quick lunch idea.

Roast beef is not a lean meat in the same way that chicken is, but it isn’t a high-fat meat like some other red meat out there. This is one of the great recipes that you can make when you find you only have a few days left on your deli meat.

You may be familiar with beef tortilla roll ups that are made with flour tortillas, but these stuffed rolls are different. These tasty treats are served warm, use flaky crescent rolls, and can be ripped into tasty bite-sized pieces.

Recipe Notes:

  • You can use either a block of cheese or shredded cheese in this crescent roll recipe.
  • Use your roast beef leftovers or sliced roast beef deli meat – they both work well.
  • You can use Pillsbury crescent rolls or the store brand; they can be original crescent rolls or low fat crescent rolls.
  • The crescent roll dough will stick to whatever you place them on, so either use a floured surface or open them directly on the greased sheet pan.
  • The cheese will be hot right when you take your rolls out of the oven, so allow them to rest for a few minutes before biting in.

How To Make These Beef And Cheese Roll Ups

Ingredients:
1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls 8 ct
8 slices of roast beef
1 block of cheddar cheese

Two rolls of crescent rolls next to a block of cheddar cheese and a pile of deli roast beef on a baking sheet

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray it with non-stick cooking spray.

If you are using a block of cheddar cheese, take out a cutting board and cut eight thin slices off of the block.

Two pieces of crescent roll dough next to each other, one with a slice of cheese, the other with a roast beef sliceUnroll one of your pieces of crescent dough. Layer a slice of roast beef and a piece of (or a pinch of shredded) cheese on the wide end of each dough triangle.

Roll up the crescent roll dough from the large end to the narrow end and place it on the cookie sheet.

Store any leftovers in an airtight container or on a plate wrapped tightly with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Can I Use A Different Kind Of Cheese For These Roast Beef Roll-Ups?

Yes! You can use whatever type of cheese you’d like in this recipe. If you have cheddar cheese in your refrigerator, use that the first time and the next time you can try something else.

Swiss cheese, pepper jack, and parmesan cheese shreds work well or you can cut some string cheese in half instead. If you don’t have any of these options, spread some plain or garlic cream cheese on the slice of roast beef before rolling it into the buttery crescent rolls.

Is There Anything I Can Add To This Easy Recipe?

Yes! While you don’t want to add too much to these roast beef rolls, there is a little bit of room to add something else. A few easy ideas would be things like fresh spinach, slices of bell peppers, chopped green onion, or even fresh herbs from your garden.

Can I Turn These Into French Dip Crescents?

Yes! French dip sandwiches are just roast beef in a bun with some provolone cheese and au jus sauce for dipping. To turn these into French dip crescent rolls, swap your cheese for some provolone (or slice some mozzarella cheese sticks in half) and pick up some au jus mix from the grocery store to make some easy au jus.
