Why Is This Recipe Great For Kids?

Because there is no coffee in this copycat Starbucks Frappuccino recipe! Having two kids myself, when children see a delicious drink, they want to try it. But for parents, when there is a coffee base or you’re making a fun coffee recipe in your own home, you may want the option of creating a luxurious treat for the kids to enjoy instead.

This Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino recipe combines the flavors of a milkshake with the caramel version of the famous Starbucks drink. This leaves you with a result that is not quite the real thing, but pretty close. It’s an excellent choice for kids!

If you are hoping to drink it in a few hours, put the tall cup in the freezer and drink the rest on the same day.

Can I Add Coffee To This Recipe?

As it is, this 5-minute recipe contains no coffee, but you can add some if you are a coffee lover. The most important thing is to allow it to cool before you add it to the blender with the rest of the ingredients. This may be easiest to do with instant coffee or leftover coffee that you’ve let cool, but you can also prepare iced coffee or cold brew coffee and add it when ready.

The Starbucks coffee drinks include an espresso shot, so if you have an espresso maker, allow yours to cool and add it to the mixture. This will get you closest to a standard copycat Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino.

If you don’t want too much caffeine content in your blended beverage (or you want to offer it to a teenager who loves coffee flavor), opt for decaf coffee. Any regular coffee will change the consistency a bit, but it will still be delicious and remind you of what you’d get from the coffee shop.

What Type Of Ice Should I Use In This Icy Frappuccino?

Because you will be blending your ice, you can choose whatever ice you have available. A cup of large ice cubes vs crushed ice will all blend down, so use the ice that comes out of your ice cube trays or refrigerator ice maker.

Can I Use Something Other Than Whole Milk In This Easy Recipe?

Yes! If you don’t have whole milk available, you can substitute low-fat milk or skim milk. If you would rather not use cow’s milk, you can substitute almond milk or coconut milk, or heavy cream, but that will be thicker and richer.

The most important thing about the substitute milk is that you make sure that it is cold milk, not warm or room temperature. I would not omit the milk or you will be sacrificing the creamy texture, but you can use the milk of your choice.

Can I Make This A Salted Caramel Frappuccino?

Yes! While you are blending your own Caramel Frappuccino, add a dash of salt to the mixture. Taste it and add a little more if needed. The best way to do this is a little bit at a time. Once you have assembled the rest of your key ingredients, add a dash of salt to the caramel drizzle on top as well.
