Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme
I know that when you look at the Taco Bell menu, your eyes kind of glaze over with all the yummy options. But when you can’t get to a Taco Bell restaurant, try my Copycat Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme instead! It looks gorgeous and complicated, but it’s truly a recipe that anyone can make.
I think it’s well known that a homemade version of a fast food menu item is usually a tick higher on the healthy scale. This copycat version of the crunch wrap is something that the whole family will enjoy – and the best part is that they can help make them!
Set up a small assembly line in your own kitchen and move the large tortillas with toppings down the row. This is a really easy recipe to make, the whole thing just has a lot of ingredients to pile onto the center of each tortilla.
This homemade Taco Bell recipe is full of fresh ingredients that you can get at your local grocery store. It will be your new obsession and the perfect way to satisfy your taste buds when you have a craving!
- Make sure that the size of the corn tortillas you buy are standard tostada size and will fit in the middle of a burrito size tortilla with room around it.
- You will want to have all of your ingredients prepared around you on a flat surface before starting to put each of your homemade crunch wraps together.
- Serve your Taco Bell Crunchwrap recipe with some hot sauce as well as some tortilla chips and warm nacho cheese sauce to complete the meal!
How To Make This Copycat Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme Recipe
Crunchwrap Supreme Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 package taco seasoning mix
6 burrito size tortillas
6 tostada shells
16 oz can refried beans
15 oz can/jar nacho cheese sauce
8 oz bag shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican cheese
Diced tomato and green onions
Step 1: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef and drain the grease. Add your taco seasoning packet with 1/4 cup water and stir it into your ground beef. Mix this together well and set it aside.
Step 2: Take out a cutting board and chop up the ripe tomatoes and green onions.
Step 3: Take one of your large flour tortillas and lay it on a flat work surface. You can also use a sheet pan.
Spread about 3 tablespoons of refried beans in the center of the tortilla.
Step 4: Next, spread your cooked meat on top of the refried beans.
Step 5: Place a crispy tostada shell on top of the scoop of ground beef. Spread nacho cheese all over the top of the corn tostada.
Step 6: Add chopped tomatoes, green onions, and crispy lettuce over the top of the nacho cheese sauce.
Step 7: Squeeze some cool sour cream on top of the fresh veggies, making sure to spread a thin layer of sour cream in all areas.
Step 8: Add a large pinch of shredded cheese on top of the sour cream.
Step 9: Now, fold half of the soft tortilla over the middle of the mixture, then take an end and fold up to the middle. Continue to do this all the way around the tortilla until all of the edges of the large tortilla are up in the middle.
Step 10: Spray a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and place the Crunchwrap seam-side down into the skillet. Over medium heat, cook for 2-3 minutes or until it is golden brown.
Flip the soft flour tortilla over and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes. Serve your copycat Crunchwrap Supreme hot and enjoy!
How To Store A Crunchwrap Supreme
Store any leftover homemade Crunchwrap Supremes in an airtight container or a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
How Exactly Do I Fold This Handheld Wrap?
The key to folding in this homemade Crunchwrap Supreme recipe is the size of the outer tortilla. You need to start with large burrito size flour tortillas or even giant flour tortillas in a pinch.
Take one end of the tortilla and fold it towards the center so that the edge is now touching the middle of the shredded cheese. Now take the bit of extra tortilla sticking out on one side and fold it up to meet the edges of the large flour tortilla you just folded into the middle.
Continue folding each piece until the center of each tortilla is basically closed on top. You will have approximately six total folds.
Unfortunately, if your flour tortilla is too small, you can’t use extra tortillas to easily finish your copycat recipe. That said, you could use each crunchy tostada shell to turn it into an open-faced dish instead of Taco Bell’s Crunchwrap Supreme.
Can I Use Different Ingredients From What Taco Bell Uses?
Yes! This recipe calls the ingredients in Taco Bell’s Crunchwrap Supreme, but you can change it up as you see fit. Use black beans or pinto beans instead of refried beans, add some red sauce to the inside, add some chopped bell pepper or any of your favorite toppings. The important thing is that you love it!
Can I Make This With Another Ground Meat?
Yes! The original version does use cooked beef, but since this is a copycat Taco Bell recipe, you can use whatever meat you want.
Make your taco meat out of ground chicken or ground turkey instead of lean ground beef, or if you want to make it vegetarian opt for some vegan meat crumbles. Just because you’re vegetarian doesn’t mean that you don’t have Taco Bell cravings!
