Can I Cook My Bacon Wrapped Pork Chops Longer?

Yes! If you have a thicker cut of bacon or a thicker pork chop, you may want to give it another 10 minutes in the oven to cook through. If your bacon doesn’t crisp to the degree that you’d like, throw the chops under the broiler for just a minute or two and enjoy!

How Will I Know That My Pork Chops Are Done?

If you are new to cooking pork chops, are unsure about the thickness of the pork chops, or just want a sure-fire way to know that they are done, the best way of checking is with a meat thermometer.

You should have an internal temperature of 145 degrees F or higher. If you see that number, you can be secure in knowing your pork chops are cooked through.

What Kind Of Bacon Should I Use?

This is a great question! The bottom line is that you should use your favorite type of bacon. Two of the best things to consider, though, are both flavor and thickness.

When considering the flavor, keep in mind what spices you intend to use. You can choose something like maple bacon for a touch of sweetness or smoky bacon for a bolder flavor.

As far as thickness, keep in mind that the thicker the bacon, the longer you may have to bake your pork chops – or run them under the broiler. If you have several thin slices of bacon wrapped around all sides of the pork chops, you should still be close to the stated cooking time. If you are using thick-cut bacon, just plan to keep an eye on them in the oven or under the broiler for a few extra minutes.

Can I Use Different Seasonings?

Yes! You can always use basic salt and pepper or Montreal Steak Seasoning, but there are lots of combinations you can try. Some great options are garlic powder and onion powder, chili powder, or smoked paprika for a little kick. You could also tuck a fresh rosemary spring under the back for a note of rosemary.

That said, if you have specific seasonings that you generally use for your pork chop recipes and enjoy them, go for it! The most important thing is that you have well-seasoned pork chops before you start wrapping the bacon strips around them.

    1. I had thin sliced bacon and it was perfect ! If you have thick sliced or like really crispy bacon , put bacon on paper towels and microwave for 30 seconds per slice then carry on with recipe

  1. We can’t be upset if our bacon doesn’t turn out cooked all the way or anything like that because there are variables and also this should only be used at a reference, not the author of the recipes fault if it doesn’t turn out in your favor. Thank you this is a wonderful idea

    1. I followed the instructions exactly and the bacon and pork chops were still a little raw.

If you read this skip this recipe. It ruined my family dinner.

  2. I wrapped some sirloin chops in bacon. Seasoned as with a chicken breast seasoning, mixed with some brown sugar for caramelizing. The pork was a bit thick, and the bacon wasn’t overly thick, but since the pork was a bit rounded, and more long than wide, the bacon wrapped several times. I spiraled it downward, but I’m sure it thickened it. Anyway, after about 40 minutes, the bacon was still pretty raw. So I decided to broil it for a few mins to crisp the bacon. It looked amazing. Unfortunately when I cut in, the pork was uncooked. Only a bit of one side (presumably the side I had turned upright during broiling) was partially cooked.

I put it back in the oven at 350. Since I had the bacon perfect already, I hope this doesn’t ruin the bacon, finishing the pork.

My suggestion for anyone/my own lesson who has their bacon still raw after a long time, is experiment and figure out how long it takes for your pork to be done to how you’d like. Next time I would have used a meat thermometer, too. Anyway, once the pork is justtt about ready, if the bacon isn’t perfect, broil it on high for a couple minutes, and it will be perfect.

  3. Just made this recipe, it was amazing!!!
Used pork loin chops 1 1/2 thick. Adjusted the oven time to 55 minutes, well worth the wait, my son is already wanting to know when I’m making them again.
    Thank you

  4. I also found that the bacon was undercooked-however the internal temp of the pork chop was just right! Easy fix – pan fry each side for a few mins. No biggie!

  5. I just tried your bacon wrapped pork chops because I like simple receipes with not a lot of ingredients.
I printed the receipe out and followed it to a “t”. Did it exactly as the receipe showed.
After I baked them, tried one and thought I would try two.
The pork chops were so dry and bacon 3/4 cooked.
Will have to go to store to buy pork gravy because I can’t just throw them out. They are costly. I made 8 of them.
Why are they so dry and how can this be remedied?:

    1. I’m so sorry they didn’t turn out for you! Sometimes it is an issue of the meat thickness, but that is a real bummer, I’m sorry.
