These No-Bake Owl Cookies are an easy recipe that anybody can make! With Oreo cookies and frosting, this is a sweet treat everyone will love!
Animal Cracker Owl Cookies
Some of the most fun treats that you can make for a holiday party or a child’s classroom are little food animals and these No-Bake Owl Cookies are the perfect example.
Perfect as school snacks or classroom treats, these are graham cracker cookies that even picky eaters won’t turn away from.
These fun cookies don’t take a long time to make and because all of the ingredients are shelf-stable, you can keep them on-hand for whenever you want to make some. A cute owl shape with minimal effort!
Many people associate owls with Halloween – and these are excellent Halloween treats! – but they are lots of fun at any time of year. With only a few simple ingredients, you can make these in minutes. The whole family will love them!
There is no baking involved in this cookie-making process, but you will have to have access to a microwave to melt the white chocolate melts. Other than that, create a little workspace in your kitchen and get to creating!
Recipe Notes:
- You will need a solid flat surface for these sweet treats, so anything from a cutting board to a sheet pan will work. I do not recommend a wire rack because you don’t want any graham crackers slipping through.
- Want to hand these out? Place your cute owl cookies in cellophane bags and tie them off. Perfect to give as treats!
How To Make Easy Owl Cookies:
Easy Owl Cookies Ingredients:
6 graham cracker halves
12 Wilton green candy eyes
6 candy corn
3 Oreo cookies
1 bag Wilton bright white candy melts
Supplies Needed:
Ungreased cookie sheet
Parchment paper
Piping bag or resealable bag
Small or medium microwave-safe bowl
Directions:
Step 1: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or clear a flat surface in your kitchen.
In a small or medium bowl, melt your candy melts on medium heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds to avoid burning.
Step 2: Take out a pastry bag or Ziploc bag and pour the melted candy melts inside. Tie off the top and set it aside for a minute.
If you have trouble pouring in the melts (because sometimes it is more convenient to have four hands!), place the bag in a tall glass and pull the top of the bag over the top of the glass so that you are making an easy space to pour into.
Step 3: Break your graham crackers in half so that you have two connected rectangles, and you are now looking at two squares. You’ll make two little owls with these.
Step 4: Cut the tip off your pastry bag and begin to frost your graham crackers with the white chocolate with back-and-forth swipe gestures.
Make sure that you put enough frosting on each square so that you can attach the other ingredients. This serves as your glue, so don’t make your white chocolate layer too thin. You’ll need everything to attach to make up the body of the owl.
How To Make The Owl Faces
Step 5: Place your green eyes towards the top of your graham crackers, right in the middle.
Step 6: Unscrew an Oreo cookie and scrape off the white filling. (I won’t tell anyone if you choose to eat it instead of throwing it away!)
Step 7: Break one side of your Oreo cookie in half to create the wings of your owl.
Place the wings right under the owl eyes, with the round edges up and the pointy ends meeting the corners of the graham cracker.
Turn your animal cookie a bit so that you see a pyramid of white between them and the wings are hanging a little bit off your graham crackers.
Step 8: Place a yellow candy corn – with the pointy end facing down – right under the middle of your eyes. This is your candy corn beak.
Step 9: Let each little guy harden at room temperature for about 30 minutes and serve when you are ready.
How To Store Leftover Easy Owl Cookies
Store any remaining cookies in an airtight container with wax paper between layers on the counter for up to 3 days.
Can I Use Anything Other Than Candy Melts For These Graham Cracker Owls?
Yes! If you don’t have access to a microwave or don’t have any candy melts handy, you can use melted white chocolate chips, peanut butter, or sunbutter instead.
Peanut butter isn’t usually allowed in schools, so I highly recommend sunbutter (or another nut-free alternative) if you plan to share these with a preschool class or sell them at a bake sale.
